Materials And Uses Of Hydraulic Seals


The sealing materials used in hydraulic cylinder seals on the market are generally synthetic rubber and synthetic resin. The commonly used sealing materials are nitrile rubber (NBR), silicone rubber (VMQ), fluorine rubber (FKM), and EPDM (EPDM) are all materials with good sealing characteristics, which can give full play to its characteristic advantages.



Nitrile rubber (NBR)

It is a widely used seal material. NBR seals have excellent oil resistance, good wear resistance, breathability and oil resistance, which is suitable for mineral hydraulic oil, grease, silicone oil, flame retardant fluid and hot water at 80 ℃. But it is not suitable for polar solvents and brake fluids. The ozone resistance and weather resistance are average, but it can be used as a hydraulic cylinder seal and will not be affected by this. The main purpose is to manufacture O-rings, oil seals, etc., which is suitable for general hydraulic oil.



Silicone rubber (VMQ)

The seal has excellent resistance to high and low temperatures, and has a wide operating temperature range in all rubber seal materials. It has excellent resistance to ozone, oxygen, light and weather, and aging resistance. General silicone rubber has certain resistance to low concentrations of acids and alkalis, which also has good resistance to media such as ethanol and ketone. Special fluorosilicone rubber has excellent oil resistance and solvent resistance. The main features are good heat and cold resistance, low compression permanent deformation, but low mechanical strength, only suitable for static sealing. Therefore, it is suitable for sealing on food machinery and electronic products at high and low temperatures.



Fluoroelastomer ruber(FKM)

Its heat resistance is comparable to silicone rubber, it can work for a long time at 250 ° C, and can withstand high temperature of 300 ° C for a short time. The excellent corrosion resistance is one of the characteristics of fluororubber. It is stable to fuel oil, hydraulic oil, organic solvent, concentrated acid, strong bismuth, etc. and is superior to other rubbers. But there are differences in different varieties. For example, in fuel oil, hydraulic cylinder oil and media such as double esters, silicate lubricants and boiling water, the performance of 23-type fluororubber is worse than that of 26-type fluororubber in the environment. The compounding agent in the formula also has an effect on the performance. For example, peroxide vulcanization system products have better heat-resistant water performance than ammonia and phenol vulcanization system products. Flame-resistant hydraulic oil seals are widely used in metallurgy, electric power and other industries.



EPDM rubber

It has excellent aging resistance, heat resistance, weather resistance, ozone resistance of seals, can withstand chemicals such as alcohol, acid, strong alkali and oxidant. But it is not resistant to aliphatic and aromatic solvents, which is not suitable for general mineral oil lubricants and hydraulic cylinder oils. Its hydraulic cylinder seal products can be used for a long time in the environment of 130 ° C. It is widely used in the sealing of refrigerators and refrigeration machinery.
