THE PRINCIPLE AND CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE ROTARY JOINT.

1. The working principle of the rotary joint

A rotary joint is a mechanical transmission device used to transmit rotational motion. It connects two rotating axes that are not on the same axis by rotating two independent concentric torus, outer and inner. The outer ring is connected with a rotating shaft, and the inner ring is connected with another rotating shaft, and the transmission between the two rings is realized by using rollers, needle rollers, etc., so that the two non-coaxial rotating shafts can transmit rotational motion.

2. The main structure of the rotary joint

1). Outer ring: connected with the input shaft or output shaft, with the inner ring meshing with the inner tooth.

2). Inner ring: connected with another input shaft or output shaft, with external teeth meshed with the outer ring

around the periphery.

3). Roller or needle roller: set between the outer ring and the inner ring, used to transmit the motion and load between the two rings.

4). Cover plate: Set on both sides to cover the inner and outer rings to prevent the rollers from falling off.

5). Seals: set at both ends of the rotating contact surface to prevent grease leakage.

6). Bearing: support the rotating parts of the joint to ensure its smooth rotation.

7). Shell: Cover the entire inner and outer rings and moving parts to protect the joints.

3. Types of swivel joints

According to different uses, there are electrician rolling ring type, cross wheel type, tiger joint, universal joint and other different structural forms of rotary joints.

4. Working characteristics of rotary joints

1). Allow the input and output shafts to cross at a certain angle.

2). It can transmit large torque.

3). The movement is flexible, allowing a certain axial and radial displacement.

4). Long service life, easy to install and disassemble.

5). Compact structure and reliable use.

5. Summary

To sum up, the rotary joint transmits the torque of the two cross shafts through the meshing of the outer and inner ring gears, and realizes the transfer of non-coaxial rotary motion, which is an indispensable component in various mechanical equipment. It is very important to choose a reasonable structural form.
