What Are The Causes of Leakage of Rotary Joints


The function of the rotary joint is to feed the liquid from this side of the pipe into the rotating or reciprocating equipment, and then discharge the connection sealing device from it. In different applications, the rotary joint can have different structures, but no matter how the structure changes, it includes a rotating part, a sealing part and a stationary part. The rotating part is connected to the rotating mechanism of the running machine, the stationary part is connected to the medium source, and the sealing part prevents fluid leakage and mixing. Therefore, the design of rotary joints should be safe and reliable, environmentally friendly and energy-saving, long life, convenient processing, small size and light weight.


Here are some precautions for reference:


1. Before replacing the joint, be sure to clean up the foreign matter inside and outside the pipeline, and keep it clean inside and out, otherwise the foreign matter entering the joint will lead to the reduction of the life of the joint and the occurrence of air leakage, resulting in certain dangers.  

2. When disassembling the rotary joint to take over, it is necessary to see whether the pressure in the pipeline is 0, and then loosen the circlip and pull out the trachea with a tool.

3. When taking over, make sure that the cut surface of the pipeline is vertical, there are no scratches or other damage to the position of the pipe mouth, and the nozzle is not deformed.

4. When inserting the trachea, the trachea should be inserted into the inside of the pipe joint, and the distance between the sealing ring and the end of the pipe joint shall prevail, and the trachea should be pushed to the end of the pipe joint without leaving a gap, so as to prevent leakage.

5. After the pipe is plugged in, it is necessary to gently pull the pipe to confirm whether the joint can be pulled, and pay attention to the amplitude of the pull when pulling.

6. When connecting the pipeline, confirm the connection with the joint to ensure that the sealing of the plug is intact, and the sealing surface of the rotary joint should be well protected during the installation process to avoid damage, otherwise it will cause air leakage due to poor sealing.

7. When installing the rotary joint, it is also necessary to pay attention to whether the teeth connected by the silk teeth are correct and whether they are national standard flanges.  It is also necessary to remind everyone that after the rotary joint is installed, check whether there is any askew, and if there is askew, it should be removed and reinstalled immediately to avoid leakage.

8. There are also problems that occur during transportation, negligence in packaging, and violent transportation process, which will cause different degrees of damage to the sealing components.

9. Finally, it should be noted that the rotary joint should not be overloaded for a long time, which will affect its service life.
