Working Principle of Central Rotary Joint

A central rotary joint is a mechanical device used to achieve all-round rotational motion between two components. It consists of an outer sleeve, an inner sleeve, a rotating shaft, and a sealing device.

Its working principle is as follows:

1. Inner sleeve: The inner sleeve is fixed to a component to keep it stationary. The inner sleeve is usually supported by vertical bearings to reduce frictional resistance and achieve smooth rotation.

2. Outer sleeve: The outer sleeve is fixed to another component and can rotate in all directions relative to the inner sleeve. There is a rotating shaft inside the outer sleeve, which is perpendicular to the axis of the inner sleeve and supported by bearings.

3. Rotary shaft: The rotary shaft is fixed on the inner sleeve and connected to the outer sleeve. It can rotate the outer sleeve around the inner sleeve, thereby achieving all-round movement between two components.

4. Sealing device: In order to ensure the sealing performance between the inner and outer sleeves, the central rotary joint is usually equipped with a sealing device. It can prevent liquid or gas leakage and protect the internal lubricant to reduce wear.

When external force or torque acts on the central swivel joint, the rotating shaft will rotate relative to the inner sleeve, while the outer sleeve remains relatively stationary. This allows the two components to rotate in all directions without restriction.

Central swivel joints are commonly used for equipment or mechanical devices that require all-round rotation, such as excavators, cranes, and machine tools. They can make operations more convenient and flexible, and improve work efficiency.
