Working Principles of Various Types of Rotary Joints

Rotary joints are classified according to different needs, uses, working principles, etc., and there are corresponding differences in their classification and working principles.

Rotary joint RF type features:
High quality rotary joint and precision bearing device are installed on a high rigidity shaft, with no vibration during long-term operation. The shaft is subjected to special heat treatment to increase rigidity. The fixed ring closure is made of special materials, such as wear-resistant carbon graphite, which is waterproof and dry running. Especially, the size of the rotary closure surface must be reduced to the minimum, and even under high pressure, our  company's long-term mechanical experience has made it possible to achieve good balance on the sealing surface. The RF type joint uses bronze fixed rings for use in high-pressure 200 bar environments.

In RLB/RLF rotary joints, it is very difficult to connect the coolant for rotation, especially under high-speed conditions. A special labyrinth component in the parts is used to prevent leakage. The two sealing surfaces are refined by carbonization to ensure long-term operation and wear resistance. The sealing ring maintains appropriate balance and even ensures extremely low wear at high speeds.  

The RMB/RMF rotary joint has the characteristic of opening/closing function. The opening/closing function prevents high-precision splashing during the instantaneous engagement period when the coolant passes through. When the coolant stops passing through, the closed surface immediately opens to avoid friction, and this function ensures a long service life.  The important thing is to use a maze like component to prevent a small amount of liquid from leaking back. The two contact surfaces are made of wear-resistant and mechanically shock resistant tungsten carbide, using stainless steel springs that do not rust, hinder, rotate, or undergo any changes. The coolant connection direction between RMB and RMF is different.


The RHB/RHF type rotary joint has grooves on the surface of the main body, which can help dissipate heat during high-speed rotation.  It has an open/close function.


When the coolant passes through the open/close mechanism, the contact surface automatically closes to prevent splashing. When the coolant terminates, the contact surface immediately opens to avoid dry friction, ensuring that the contact surface is not damaged during long-term operation. More importantly, there are labyrinth components to prevent splashing.  The two contact surfaces are made of wear-resistant and mechanically shock resistant tungsten carbide, using stainless steel springs that do not rust, obstruct, rotate, or undergo any changes. The coolant connection direction between RHB and RHF is different.
